Shelter dealing with over capacity

(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – Jennings County Animal Control is beyond max capacity and several dogs are in desperate need to be adopted right now.

Two of those dogs face the possibility of being euthanized if they are not adopted by March 19.

One dog is a 4-year-old shepherd that is named Lucy. She is heartworm positive but requires adoption by Wednesday.

Another dog named Alice is an 8-year-old German Shepherd who can be adopted for just $50 and is approved for foster as a rescue.

Lucy and Alice are one of 21 dogs that need to be adopted in the near future.

We are begging people to please claim your dogs and adopt if you can,” the shelter said.

“Due to space constraints at the shelter, we want to stess to everyone that all animals may be euthanized at any time. We would like to remind everyone that we are an animal control shelter, and not a humane society to drop unwanted pets for us to rehome for you.”

All adoption fees cover spay/neuter, microchip, rabies, and distemper vaccinations.

The shelter is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and you can call them directly at (812) 346-5725.
