(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) -- Abe Lincoln traveled from Illinois to Washington, D.C. to be inaugurated as President in 1861.
He traveled by train and made several stops in big cities and small towns. He had stopped in Indianapolis and Shelbvyille before making his way into Southeast Indiana.
Lincoln's train stopped in Greensburg, Morris and Lawrenceburg on February 12, 1861.
On the banks of the Ohio River, he gave a speech in Lawrenceburg.
