Brookville's Bill Lowen maintains top spot at Bassmaster Tournament

Advances to final day of tournament on Sunday

(PALATKA, Fla.) – Brookville resident Bill Lowen had another big day on Bassmaster Elite Series in Palatka, Florida.

Lowen entered Saturday leading the field with 45 pounds and 9 ounces.

He added another 18 pounds worth of fish Saturday to keep him at the top of the leaderboard with nearly 64 pounds.

“Coming off last year which was my worst year on the tour, it feels really good to get started like this,” Lowen said during weigh-in. “For the first time in my career I am not nervous at all, God-willing it will happen and if I don’t catch a bass tomorrow, the past three days have been amazing.”

Lowen now advances to the fourth and final day of the FXR Pro Fish Bassmaster Elite at St. John’s River in Florida.

If he performs well Sunday, he will become a two-time Bassmaster Elite Champion.

Bill “Dollar Bill” Lowen has been on the Bassmaster Elite tour for the past 20 years and has career earnings of $1.6 million.
