Will lead to several projects at the school

(MADISON, Ind.) – Canaan Community Academy is receiving close to $1M through a competitive federal grant.
The school was one of 12 in Indiana to earn the U.S. Department of Education Charter School Programs (CSP) grant this year.
The $995,043 grant will go toward Canaan’s STEM program that provides a Finnish-inspired learning experience where students learn both indoors and outdoors.
“It is an exciting time to be a Canaan Cougar! It will provide opportunities for students, families, and the community to create everlasting memories for generations to come,” said Canaan Chief Administrative Officer Rhonda Pennington.
The first year of the grant will allow the creation of a greenhouse, a new playground and upgrades to the existing playground, and a fitness circuit.
The second year will bring a new multi-use field to the school. It can be used for baseball, softball, soccer, pickleball, and outdoor basketball.
