Greensburg student has passion for special needs children
(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – A Greensburg fifth grader is a great athlete and an even better person!
Amaré Kramer is being recognized as a Community Champion by The 812 as well as the Decatur County Community Foundation.
Kramer plays travel basketball and is often on a team that is one grade level above her own. Her team recently won first place in the fall CIBA league.
She also plays softball for the Indiana eHUSTL 12U team and that squad is currently ranked second in their division in the entire state.
Amaré has a bright future in sports and the person who nominated her says she has an even bigger heart!
In class, she is on the “all-A Honor Roll” every year at Greensburg Elementary and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society.
She is also involved in several clubs with her favorite being Champions Together, which brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities to play sports together.
Kramer has a tremendous passion for children who have special needs. She’s even involved in a school improvement program where they talk with the superintendent about ways to make Greensburg Elementary better.
“Her goal is to make the school more inclusive for those with special needs,” said a person who nominated her.
The fifth grader hopes to one day work with children who have disabilities.
Kramer is also involved in the GES Choir as well as St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
“She is so good with little kids, especially kids with disabilities. Amaré has a huge heart which is evident in everything she does,” the nominator said.
