Stranded motorist in high water on Sunday

(AURORA, Ind.) – Dearborn County Water Rescue is emphasizing the importance of paying attention to High Water signs after an incident on Sunday.
First responders were called to a stranded motorist on Hueseman Road near Texas Gas Road around 3 p.m. afternoon.
Fortunately, the driver was able to exit the vehicle without injury.
Officials say the motorist drove past a ‘High Water’ sign which led to the incident.
“The car was in there pretty deep I am surprised he walked out there on his own,” said Captain Meghan Keith with Dearborn County Water Rescue.
Keith said one of the biggest issues plaguing the county right now are motorists who are ignoring signage and putting themselves into danger.
“I have a feeling that it might be worse tomorrow because people have to go to work,” Keith added.
She emphasized that the agency does provide evacuation services for people who need to leave their homes.
If you are concerned about safely leaving your home, you are encouraged to call Dearborn County Dispatch at (812) 537-3431 and evacuation services can be made.
Agencies that responded to the stranded motorist Sunday included Dillsboro Fire, Aurora EMS Lawrenceburg Rescue 4, and the Dearborn County Sheriff's Office.
