DCCF accepting applications for Women and Girls grant

Applications available until February 28

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Organizations that develop programming for women and children in Decatur are eligible for a grant.

The Decatur County Community Foundation is now accepting applications for The Fund for Women and Girls grant.

The fund has given out $46,000 since it was established in 2004. Some past grant were given to the Decatur County 4-H Council’s Safe Sitter program; New Directions Safety Courses; and a Mammography Assistance Program at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

The Fund has also provided scholarship opportunities to women returning to school to further their education.

The grant is open through February 28. One grant for $1,500 and two for $1,000 is available.

In coordination with the grant, DCCF is hosting a Garden Tea Part event on Wednesday, April 23.

A committee, led by Emily Steele, is planning an evening that will feature a female-owned business and a DIY project. Event sponsors are currently being sought. Tickets for that event will be available soon. Proceeds will benefit the Fund for Women and Girls, and in turn future projects in Decatur County.
