Dearborn County deputy saves the life of bank employee

Happened on Tuesday in Lawrenceburg

(LAWRENCEBURG, Ind.) – A woman is alive today thanks to the quick actions of a Dearborn County deputy.

Major Ben McBroom had an appointment at the Civista Bank in Lawrenceburg on Tuesday.

McBroom walked in and within minutes a bank employee began suffering a medical emergency and went into cardiac arrest.

The deputy rushed over to the woman and began performing CPR.

She was then rushed to a local hospital before being transferred to the emergency room at St. Elizabeth in Edgewood.

The woman’s aunt, Kelly Klosterman, said the medical condition of her niece didn’t look good following the incident but she has made progress and is now on the road to recovery.

Klosterman has worked in healthcare for 35 years and describes McBroom’s involvement as a miracle.

“I haven’t had a chance to meet him yet, but I would tell him that God put you in the bank at that time for a reason and I firmly believe you saved her life,” Klosterman said.

“In my years of healthcare I have seen CPR performed many times and I haven’t seen very many good outcomes from it, but this is certainly one of the good ones,” she added.

The woman remains hospitalized where she is conscious, moving and had her breathing tube removed on Thursday.
