Decatur County REMC disperses $14K through Operation Roundup

Nine nonprofits were awarded funds

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – Nine local organizations are receiving grant funding from the Decatur County REMC Community Trust.
It is part of Operation Roundup which is a member-funded program established to support local nonprofits serving the area.
Since it was launched in 1999, there has been 357 grants totalling over $638,000.
There were $14,900 dispersed this cycle to the following nine recipients.
• Wayside Inn Homeless Shelter - $1,000 to purchase personal hygiene items and clothing for their residents as needed
• Decatur County Parks and Recreation Department - $1,500 to purchase supplies and cover other expenses for Camp Rainbow
• Advocates for Children - $1,000 toward paying mileage reimbursement for volunteer advocates
• New Directions of Decatur County- $1,200 to provide trauma care workbooks to survivors
• Campbell Township Volunteer Fire Dept. - $3,000 to purchase a grain rescue tube, auger and vacuum to be used for grain bin entrapment rescue operations
• Girls Inc. of Shelbyville & Shelby County - $1,200 to help fund the Breathe Clean: Avoid Vaping Scene school program
• Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department- $2,500 to help replace AED’s that are out of date and difficult to purchase supplies for
• Immaculate Conception Parish (Millhousen)- $2,500 to help replace AED’s that are out of date and difficult to purchase supplies for
• Living Waters Church of God- $1,000 toward purchasing replacement windows
