(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) — A report of a domestic violence led to a police chase in North Vernon during the snow storm.
North Vernon officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Gilbert Street around noon on Tuesday.
Police say the alleged suspect, 34-year-old Robert Evans, had left the home in his wife’s vehicle prior to police arriving.
A witness told dispatchers that his driving status was suspended and that Evans almost backed into a person while leaving the scene, police said.
Officers say they located Evans driving and attempted to do a traffic stop on West Walnut Street.
Police allege Evans refused to stop and eventually slid off the roadway due to the slick conditions. He was eventually taken into custody.
Officers say they later learned that Evans had traveled through multiple yards and caused property damage.
He was booked into the Jennings County Jail on allegations of Resisting Law Enforcement, Vehicle Theft, Domestic Battery, OWI and Criminal Mischief.
