GCHS inducts two new members in school hall of fame

Updated: 2 days ago

(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The two newest members of the Greensburg Community High School of Hall of Fame were inducted on Saturday night.

It's a unique hall of fame as it is not dedicated to athletic achievements, but rather a recognition of Greensburg graduates who go above-and-beyond when it comes to contributing to their communities or professions.

The award ceremony was held during the basketball game against Shelbyville. Here are the two inductees:

Roberta (Bobbie) Mock

Roberta (Bobbie) Mock graduated from Greensburg in 1959 and would later serve as a teacher and administrator at the school for 50 years.

Miss Mock worked as an English teacher from 1964 to 1977 and would later serve as the high school’s assistant principal from 1986 to 2014.

In 1992, she was named the Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year for District 10 of the Indiana Association of School Principals.

She also helped create the Greensburg Schools Education Foundation and was involved in the Tree County Players summer programs.

During her tenure at GCHS, Miss Mock worked with over 9,000 students and countless staff members.

Miss Mock passed away last April and her family accepted the award on her behalf on Saturday.

William (Bill) Robbins

Robbins graduated from Greensburg in 1960 and earned his law degree from Indiana University.

He has served as a practicing attorney in Greensburg for more than 56 years and is the founding owner of Rolfes, Garvey, Walker, and Robbins Attorneys at Law.

Bill also served as Prosecuting Attorney for the 69th Judicial Circuit as well as counsel for numerous philanthropic organizations and was a charter founder of the Greensburg/Decatur County Community Foundation.

He has also been active with the Eagle Scouts as an adult scouter and has been designated a Paul Harris Major Donor by Rotary International.

In recognition of his service to the community, Bill has received the Community Service Award from the Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce, and the Spirit of Greensburg Award presented during the Greensburg 150th Anniversary Celebration.

Bill and his wife, Sally, who was a teacher for over 26 years, have 7 children and 12 grandchildren.
