Given to communities who have commitment to urban forestry

(GREENDALE, Ind.) — The City of Greendale is receiving recognition for its commitment to planting and maintaining trees.
The Arbor Day Foundation has awarded Greendale with with the designation of Tree City USA.
It is awarded to cities that have a tree board or department, have a tree ordinance, spend at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and participate in an Arbor Day celebration.
“Earning the Tree City USA recognition is a reflection of the City of Greendale’s ongoing commitment to preserving and enhancing our urban canopy. Trees are more than just a beautiful part of our landscape—they provide shade, cleaner air, and a healthier environment for our residents,” said Linda Cromer, president of the Greendale Tree Board.
The Tree City USA program has recognized cities and towns for more than a half-century.
The Arbor Day Foundation is a global nonprofit with a mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees.
