The Lady Pirates end the season with a 27-1 record

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The Greensburg Lady Pirates season has come to an end at the IHSAA Class 3A State Championship at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The Lady Pirates started the game with a 5-0 lead but Norwell came back and led for the majority of the first half, however the Pirates tied it at 24-24 at halftime.
Norwell regained the lead in the second half and had an eleven point lead at one point.
It was the toughest defense of the year that Greensburg had faced. However, the Pirates kept fighting and brought it to within six points in the fourth quarter.
Norwell held on to hand the Lady Pirates a 53-44 loss and it marks Greensburg’s first loss of the season.
Greensburg head coach Jason Simpson credited the community along with the three seniors during a post game interview.
"You could see the sea of blue that we have here, Pirate nation came out to support us tonight," he said.
"These three seniors started back with me four years ago and had to bare the brunt of the entire program. It was on their shoulders and were thrown into the fire right away, we knew right after that freshman year this is where we wanted to be, but unfortunately we fell short," Simpson added.
While it is not the ending of the season we all hoped for, we want to congratulate seniors Leah West, Mylie Wilkison, Emma McQueen, Coach Jason Simpson and the entire Pirate squad on a historic season and representing Southeast Indiana in a huge way!
