Hog Rock celebrates opening of Sunman restaurant

Will be open seven days a week

(SUNMAN, Ind.) – The first day of business for Hog Rock at Wippel’s Tavern in Sunman brought a big crowd on Monday.

The Osgood-based restaurant celebrated the opening of their second location with a party on St. Patrick’s Day.

The 812 stopped by and talked with local musician Brian ‘Biggin’ Noble who will be serving up drinks on Monday’s and Tuesday’s at the historic building.

"This isn’t going to be just a sports bar. We’ll have the big games on TV but also amazing entertainment weekly on the outdoor stage, amazing food, and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. A place everyone can call home," Noble said.

The restaurant served wings, reuben pizza and stuffed mushrooms for St. Patrick’s Day and  plan to unveil a full lunch and dinner menu soon.

Owners Chrissy and Jeff Lanham added that the restaurant will be open seven days a week.

They are also encouraging people to visit their neighbor, the Railyard Bar & Grill.

“The Railyard is a business who are great friends and neighbors across the street. We want to bring business to Sunman and have people float back-and-forth between both our businesses,” Noble said.

The Hog Rock also wants patrons to know about the unique history of this Sunman tavern.

The Town of Sunman caught fire in the early 1900's and the original bar was carried out by patrons. That original bar is now in the restaurant today.

“We want people to also understand the history of the building,” Biggin added.

Hog Rock Cafe at Wippel’s Tavern is located at 105 West Washington Street.
