(OSGOOD, Ind.) – A Jac-Cen-Del senior will play college basketball after overcoming an injury that sidelined her for nearly a year.
Sophia Sullivan suffered a devastating knee injury during the semi-state basketball game in 2024.
At one point, she worried that her athletic career may have abruptly come to an end.
“My injury was the most difficult thing I’ve ever faced, but that adversity drove my decision to want to play at the next level,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan worked hard and has earned an opportunity to continue her athletic career.
She was joined by family and friends on Thursday as she signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Hanover College.
Sophia thanked her parents, coaches and Lady Eagles teamates who helped her along the journey.
“I credit my success to my entire community. Southeastern Indiana has proven to be the most exciting platform for basketball and growing up in the midst of it has fueled my passion and love for the game," she added.
Sullivan has also had success off the court as she was named Miss Ripley County in 2024.
She plans to study communications at Hanover.
