Councilman Dylan Liddle met with Rep. Houchin in D.C.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – A Lawrenceburg city council member traveled to Washington for a meeting with U.S. Congresswoman Erin Houchin.
Dylan Liddle said his focus is on investment in Lawrenceburg and the meeting focus on two issues: the urgent need for levee repairs and expanding federal support for housing development.
During the meeting, Liddle and Houchin’s team explored federal grant opportunities that could bring essential funding back to Indiana, with a primary focus on the Lawrenceburg Levee.
Liddle said the levee system is in dire need of repairs to meet FEMA standards.
“Our levee is the backbone of our city’s flood protection system, and we must act now to ensure its long-term integrity,” said Councilman Liddle. “Federal support is critical in preventing future disasters, and I appreciate the opportunity to discuss viable funding solutions with Congresswoman Houchin’s team.”
Liddle said Houchin’s team offered to provide official letters of support for federal funding applications, strengthening Lawrenceburg’s position in securing the necessary resources.
In addition to levee infrastructure, Liddle also highlighted the growing need for affordable housing in Lawrenceburg and throughout Indiana’s Ninth District. He and Houchin’s staff discussed potential federal grant programs, tax incentives, and policy initiatives that could support homeownership and neighborhood revitalization.
“Every family deserves access to safe and affordable housing, and we need to tap into every available federal resource to make that happen,” Liddle emphasized. “I appreciate Congresswoman Houchin’s willingness to explore these opportunities, and her commitment to providing letters of support demonstrates a strong bipartisan effort to bring real solutions home to Lawrenceburg.”
Following this discussion, Liddle and Houchin’s offices are coordinating follow-up meetings to refine the details of potential funding pathways and determine the next steps.
