Library district in Oklahoma installs book vending machine at small business

This could be an idea for local libraries and coffee shops!

(LONE GROVE, OK.) – A library district and a bakery are joining forces for a unique program that makes books more accessible in their community.

The Southern Oklahoma Library System has installed a vending machine for books at Pixiedust Bakery & Gift Shop in Lone Grove, Oklahoma.

“They came to me about putting the library system in here as a great access point for the community, to come in and get a book and also the atmosphere of our little store here,”  Pixiedust owner Lori Smith told local news station KTEN.

The vending machine has more than 200 books and all you need is a library card to access it.

You can also return books that were checked out at the library.

The Southern Oklahoma Library District operates eight libraries and is considering more book vending machines at other small businesses.
