Local family builds snow fort with Christmas lights

Updated: 5 days ago

The kids spent nine hours building the fort this week

(NAPOLEON, Ind.) – Some local students spent their free time getting creative in the snow this week.

Rather than sit inside, the kids wanted to be outdoors and build something with the snow.

They not only built a snow fort, but also added solar power Christmas lights to it!

Those involved include Johnny, Mary, Mickie and Charlie Decker, which all attend St. Nicholas School. Also Sasha Decker and her son, Chance, who attends North Decatur Elementary.

“It was neat watching the kids work together to figure out how we were going to build the walls and how to pack snow around the cracks to make sure the blocks stayed. It was many trips to different parts of the yard to collect snow,” Sasha Decker said.

The kids worked on this for nine hours over the course of two days.
