Accused of dealing fetanyl and xylazine

(MADISON, Ind.) – A Madison man is facing charges in connection to an overdose death.
A 38-year-old man in Madison died from an overdose of fentanyl and xylazine on July 21, police said.
Investigators received warrants to look at the deceased person’s telephone records.
It led to police to identify 42-year-old Mark Smith, of Madison, as the person who allegedly sold the drugs.
Smith was taken into custody in Jeffersonville on Wednesday and police said he had methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl at the time of the arrest.
He has been charged with Dealing In A Controlled Substance Resulting in Death which is a level 1 felony.
