Williams out worked thousands of her peers

(MILAN, Ind.) — A Milan senior was elected to a national seat for Jobs For America’s Graduates (JAG) on Saturday night.
Shelby Williams competed against thousands of students to be named National Secretary for JAG.
It’s an honor she doesn’t take lightly.
“Sometimes, all students need is elevation and support, which is something that I hope I can do for all JAG students in America,” Williams told The 812.
JAG is a national workforce preparation program for high schoolers who have experienced challenging or traumatic life experiences.
JAG students get vital job skills while in school and also receive support after graduation as they transition into a career, college or military.
Williams was one of four finalists for JAG's National Secretary. The other finalists were from Louisiana, Alabama and Kentucky.
“I campaigned every hour of every day,” Shelby said.
Her name was called late Saturday night and she will now serve as secretary for a non-profit that has served over 1.7 million young people.
It comes at a time when Indiana legislators are considering slashing funding for JAG.
