(NOBLESVILLE, Ind.) – A Milan seventh grader had a big accomplishment on Sunday afternoon in Noblesville.
13-year-old Wess Rohrig competed at the Knights of Columbus Free Throw State Championship at Guerin Catholic High School.
Rohrig earned the invitation to the state championship after winning the local competition in Lawrenceburg in January and then the Regional at Greenwood last month.
He hit 13 or 15 free throw to win in Lawrenceburg and then 23 of 25 to advance at the Regional level.
On Sunday, he stepped up to the free throw line and hit 21 of 25 attempts to win the state championship for his age bracket.
Wess also finished second overall out of all the competitors who participated at state.
Rohrig has some big goals when it comes to basketball in the future.
He wants to score 1,000 points when he plays for Milan High School and plans to be a high school or college basketball coach when he grows up.
The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is open to all girls and boys in Indiana who are between 9 and 14 years old.
