Milan woman accused of meth possession

Ripley County's K-9 gave positive alert during traffic stop

(MILAN, Ind.) – A woman is accused of meth possession after a traffic stop in Milan on Thursday night.

Around 8 p.m., Ripley County Deputy Jonathan Day stopped a vehicle that was driven by 23-year-old Chalyn Schachel, of Milan.

Deputy Day requested the department’s K-9 partner to come to the traffic stop. K-9 Dex gave a positive alert of drugs in the vehicle, deputies said.

A search led to what deputies believe to be methamphetamine in Schachel’s purse.

She was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by Milan Police, Indiana State Police, Sunman Police and Todd’s Wrecker Service.
