North Vernon man accused of killing father during altercation

(NORTH VERNON, Ind.) – A North Vernon man is accused of shooting and killing his father during an altercation on Sunday night.
The incident occurred at a home on Private Drive 450 South in southern Jennings County.
Investigators say 30-year-old Conner Montgomery had gotten into an argument with an adult female at the home.
Montgomery allegedly pointed a gun at her and then later fired it in the home.
When she attempted to leave, Montgomery shot her vehicle and disabled it, police said.
His father, Robert Montgomery, showed up to the house before law enforcement was notified. When he arrived, Conner allegedly shot and killed him while he stood outside of the home.
Conner Montgomery was arrested on initial charges of murder, criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, domestic battery (in the presence of minors), neglect of a dependent, and pointing a firearm.
