(MIAMI) – Notre Dame will play for their first football national championship in 37 years.

The Irish came back from a 10-0 deficit against Penn State to beat the Nittany Lions 27-24 after a field goal with 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter on Thursday night.

The last time Notre Dame won the national title was in 1988 when they beat West Virginia to go 12-0 under head coach Lou Holtz.

Notre Dame will find out who they will play after the Ohio State and Texas game on Friday night.

The national championship will be played on Monday, January 20.

Lawrenceburg grad Ashton Craig was a starting lineman for the team but was injured against Purdue earlier this year.

There is also a Greensburg grad who has a special role with the team.
