Happened near Brooksburg

(BROOKSBURG, Ind.) – An off-duty police officer helped save multiple people after a vehicle entered flood waters in Switzerland County.
Ryan Harrison is a deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
He heard about the incident which occurred near Brooksburg, responded and was able to help get all the occupants safely out of the water.
The sheriff’s department is recognizing Deputy Harrison for his heroics, while reminding people that driving through standing water is never a good idea.
“Not only are you putting yourself at risk but you are risking the safety and health of our officers. Water levels are still high, water temperature is still very low, and there is significant debris and mud under the flooded water,” the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department said.
A friend of Harrison's added that he also served in the Marine Corps prior to law enforcement.
