(CONNERSVILLE. Ind.) – The cause of a deadly apartment fire in Connersville this past weekend remains under investigation.
The fire occurred Sunday at The Crossings Apartment Complex and one person lost their life.
Investigators believe the fire began in the deceased person’s apartment unit.
They don’t think there is any foul play but have not determined a cause yet.
“The exact cause of this fire is undetermined; improper disposal of smoking products cannot be ruled out,” officials said.
There were 50 residents who were displaced as a result of the fire.
Fayette County EMA, the Fayette County Ministerial Society and The American Red Cross helped assist the displaced residents.
Officials are asking any residents of the “C” wing, where the fire occurred, to contact the Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROS.
