(NAPOLEON, Ind.) – A possible tornado touched down in Ripley County on Sunday night.
It happened around 8 p.m. in the area of Michigan Road and County Road 800 North near Napoleon.
The Delaware Volunteer Fire Department was the first to report the possible tornado after witnessing damage in the area.
There are several damaged homes and buildings in the area, power outages, and debris blocking some roadways in the area. The majority of the damage occurred along State Road 48 between Napoleon and Sunman.
“Nearly every fire department in the county, Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, and Sunman Police Department are still out at this time assessing damage and clearing the roadways,” Ripley County Chief Deputy Lee Davidson said.
Davidson added that there have been no reports of any injuries.
There have also been several reports of downed power lines and power outages in other counties. Power outages appear to be limited.
Severe storms continue to move through the area this evening. There were several Tornado Warnings issued across the region earlier tonight.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1 a.m. Monday.
