Progress continues on Milan’s new water tower

(MILAN, Ind.) – If someone who has never been to Milan drove through town today, they may ponder why the water tower is orange.
Is this town known for growing Oranges? Is the water tower supposed to symbolize a cake pop?
In regard to the latter, it’s disappointing to share that it simply isn’t true.
Painting is underway on the new water tower to turn it into a giant basketball that pays homage to the 1954 Milan Indians.
Once painting is complete, the tower will spell out “Basketball Town U.S.A. Milan, Indiana.”
Town officials say they also plan to add a pocket park and basketball goals in the vicinity of the tower.
It’s part of a $4M water improvement project as the Town has been making other upgrades, including the replacement of aging water mains, water lines and hydrants.
