(BATESVILLE, Ind.) – A local school counselor is using her passion and background to help children through the power of art and journaling.
Claire Porter works at Batesville Primary School and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Registered Art Therapist, and Licensed School Counselor.
Porter has a passion for helping children develop emotional resilience, particularly those who struggle with self-regulation.
Inspired by her work in counseling, Claire began creating journals, coloring books, and self-help resources designed to promote mindfulness, emotional well-being, and self-expression.
She has published 12 books with the most recent being 'The Art Therapy Workbook!' this week.
Porter says the calming coloring books, guided journals and practical mental wellness tools provide a space for reflection, growth, and relaxation.
Her goal is to help make healing through creativity more accessible to everyone—whether in the classroom, at home, or in therapy sessions.
"Drawing from her professional experience and personal journey as a mom, she provides a compassionate, empathetic approach to helping children understand and regulate their feelings," according to her author page on Amazon.
