(LOS ANGELES) – South Ripley teacher Katie Lanter recently traveled to Los Angeles for an awards ceremony.
Back in December, Lanter received a huge surprise in school when she was named a 2024 Milken Educator Award recipient.
She was one of only two Indiana teachers to receive the award which came with a $25,000 cash prize.
Earlier this month, Lanter and her family took an all-expenses-paid trip to the Milken Educator Awards where she received the cash prize and was officially inducted into the group.
The prize also included a lifetime membership to the national Milken Educator Network, mentorship and professional development opportunities, and access to over 3,000 Milken Educators working to shape the future of K-12 education.
Created by philanthropist and education visionary Lowell Milken, the Awards provide public recognition and individual financial rewards of $25,000 to K-12 teachers, principals, and specialists from around the country who are furthering excellence in education.
The first Milken Educator Awards were presented in 1987 and there are now more than 3,000 teachers nationwide who have earned the award.
