State Senator Leising introduces bill to improve IEDC board

To have representation from all areas of Indiana

(INDIANAPOLIS) – State Senator Jean Leising has introduced a bill to propose changes to the criteria to appoint members of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) board.

Leising’s bill would require that the nine-member board have representation from each congressional district in Indiana. The governor is still able to appoint three additional members from anywhere in the state.

"This bill would ensure all of Indiana has a voice in our state’s economic development, and that the interests of both urban and  rural areas are represented,” Leising said. “A state corporation funded with taxpayer dollars should represent the whole state."

Leising also filed an agricultural bill this week dealing with regulations on grain producers and the Indiana Grain Buyers and Warehouse Licensing Agency.
