Both students hope credit their teacher

(VEVAY, Ind.) – Switzerland County sophomores Myles Wilson and Jaedyn Blevins look forward to art class everyday.
They arrive in Ashley Rea’s class and are able to focus on something they truly enjoy, making ceramics.
We recently stopped by the school and some of their creations look like it should be displayed in a professional pottery store!
Myles credits his teacher for allowing him to focus on something he is passionate about.
“Mrs. Rea has really given me the opportunity to have a lot of creative freedom in her class since this is my second year doing this, and she knows that I really like being on the pottery wheel,” Wilson said.
While he is just a sophomore, Myles is already considering a future in art.
“This is something I have really enjoyed, just from picking it up in high school classes, this has been one of the best things I have ever done,” he said.
His classmate, Jaedyn, has also found a fondness for ceramics and has come up with some unique designs herself.
She has created bowls, an apple teapot, Halloween-themed decorations and more.
In a world of instant gratification, both students are thriving in a process that requires two weeks to complete each piece. They say the duration is well worth the end result.
Jaedyn is also considering a future in art as she hopes to work in an artistic, creative setting someday. She said that inspiration also comes from her teacher.
“She is a very supportive adult figure, and you can tell she just really likes teaching and getting to know her students, and she is just a very professional person to have in my life,” Blevins said.
Myles also added that Mrs. Rea, “Is the best teacher I have ever had.”
Here are some of the ceramics pieces they’ve recently created:
