(NEW WASHINGTON, Ind.) – Switzerland County’s softball team stepped up in a big way before their game at New Washington High School on Wednesday night.
New Washington’s sound system stopped working and it prevented the pre-recorded National Anthem from being played before the game.
The New Washington coach turned to the crowd and apologized for the technical difficulties.
That's when some Switzerland County players said, “We’ll sing it!”
The Lady Pacers performed an impromptu rendition of the National Anthem totally on their own!
Watch the video above which was taken by both Detria Cunningham and Lady Pacers coach Lacie Smith.
The Switzerland County School Corporation is one of the only districts in Southeast Indiana where each of their schools is designated as Purple Star by the Indiana Department of Education, which is awarded to individual schools that show a significant commitment to service members, veterans and students.
