(GREENSBURG, Ind.) – The tenants of an apartment complex in Greensburg have been evacuated and displaced after a fire on Thursday afternoon.
The incident began around 12:40 p.m. at Sky Bird Manor Apartments on Tenth Street.
The fire was caused by a gas leak underneath the building, officials said.
City of Greensburg officials say the building sustained serious damage and gas and electric has been shut off for safety purposes.
All of the residents and staff were evacuated by first responders. Fortunately, there have been no injuries.
"Sky Bird Manor will remain closed for the foreseeable future, and site and regional management for Sky Bird Manor will work on the relocation of the residents that have been displaced due to the fire,” said Kristen Williams with the City of Greensburg.
The Decatur County Emergency Management Agency has set up a warming center for residents at First Christian Church and is managing residents.
City officials ask the public to avoid the area so first responders have room to work.

"Thank you to the Greensburg Fire Department, Greensburg Police Department, Decatur EMS, and others for a quick response and assisting with Sky Bird Manor residents,” Williams added.
